If you have been trying to resolve a Windows Error code 2908 you are in luck. Our how-to guide will walk you through the steps needed to clean up the problem from your PC.

Description

You may see this error code as a result of one of a handful of different actions. If you are trying to install Microsoft Office Small Business 2006, you may see it because the Microsoft .NET Framework is corrupt. You may also see it if you are attempting to repair, update, or start any Office 2003 program. It may also occur when you are attempting to install one of several products in the Office suite.

Solution

This error has occurred because the Microsoft .NET Framework has become corrupt. You need to re-install or repair the installation, or install the latest version of the Framework.

If you are attempting to register Microsoft Office 2000, you may see this error message as well. If this is the case, execute a “clean boot” and then scan your system registry for errors. You may also run the Setup under a different profile. This may work if the profile you are using is damaged or corrupted. Using a different profile will allow you to complete the install, but you will still need to address the corrupt profile later, by deleting it and then re-creating it. If you do not address the corrupt profile, you may encounter the error again when you log back in under that profile. Alternately, you can turn off all user profiles before running the Setup.
