There are several methods you can use to correct this problem so you can continue to install the updates.

First; you can try shutting down your computer and then rebooting it. Once your PC is up and running simply click on Windows Update either from the Start Menuor in the bottom right hand section of the PC screen.

Another way to try and solve the error problem is to boot up your PC in Safe Mode by pressing the F8 key during the startup process. When you are prompted, choose Safe Mode with Networking and then press the Enter key. Choosing Safe Mode with Networking will provide you with Internet connectivity which is needed to install Windows updates. Proceed to install the necessary updates and then reboot your PC in Safe Modeagain and then choose Start Windows Normally during the startup process.

If you are using Windows Vista or 7 you can use a different method for trying to solve the error problem. Simply click on Start on your main toolbar and enter msconfigin the Search area. When the new window appears choose Programs and then Msconfig.exe. When the System Configuration dialog box appears click on Bootand then place a check mark next to Safe Boot. Choose the Network optionand then choose OK. Click on Restart when the System Configuration dialog boxappears and this will restart your computer in Safe Mode with Networking so you can proceed to install the updates. Once you are finished installing the updates reboot your PC in Safe Modeand remove the check mark from the Safe Bootfeature and then choose Restartto start Windows normally.
