When you try to access Windows Updates you receive the error code message which includes both the Windows updates Web site and the Microsoft update site.
This type of error message is usually caused by improperly configured firewall settings or incorrect proxy settings which disable the connection to the Windows Update server. One of the solutions can be found by changing proxy configurations in the Internet Explorer settings of your browser. Simply open up Internet Explorer and choose Tools
from the main menu of the browser and then click on Internet Options
from the drop down menu. When the Internet Options
window opens choose the Connections
tab at the top of the window and then choose LAN (Local Area Network) Settings and then click on Advanced. Once the Advanced window opens then delete all of the entries under Exceptions and then simply click on OK.
Once you are finished with this segment, go to your main toolbar on your desktop and click on Start and then select Run
from the pop-up menu. When the Command Prompt
window opens, type in cmd
and then click OK or press the Enter key. Once the new window opens type in proxycfg –d
and press the Enter key, then type net stop wuauserv
and press the Enter key, then type net start wuauserv
and once again press the Enter key then try installing the updates again.
You can also configure the settings in Internet Explorer to detect the proxy settings by clicking on Tools on the main toolbar of Internet Explorer and then choosing Internet Options from the drop down menu.
